The Mirror That Lied

Ava stared at the mirror.

Her hair was frizzy. Her shirt felt weird. Her face looked tired.

She whispered to herself, “I’m not enough.”

At school, she stayed quiet.

She didn’t raise her hand.

She didn’t sit with her usual friends.

She didn’t even look up when someone said, “You okay?”

That night, her mom found her curled up in bed.

Ava didn’t want to talk.

But her mom sat beside her and said,

"You know, mirrors don’t always tell the truth."

Ava blinked.

"What do you mean?"

Her mom opened a small Bible and pointed to a verse:

“The Lord will be your confidence.”

"God sees you differently than you see yourself," she said.

"He sees strength. He sees beauty. He sees purpose."

Ava didn’t say anything.

But the next morning, she wrote three sticky notes and put them on her mirror:

“You are growing.”

“You are loved.”

“You are stronger than you think.”

She still had hard days.

But she started raising her hand.

She started smiling more.

She started believing the truth — not the lie.

And every time she looked in the mirror,

she saw a little more of what God saw.

Inspired by Proverbs 3:26 — “The Lord will be your confidence.”
