Day 7 Proverbs 7 The Voice in the Window
Jordan was walking home from school when he passed an old brick building with tall windows. As he walked by, he heard someone call out:
“Hey! Come here for a second!”
Jordan froze.
The voice sounded friendly… almost too friendly.
He stepped closer and saw a teenager leaning out of the window. “You look cool,” the teen said. “Wanna see something awesome? Just come inside for a minute.”
Jordan hesitated. Something felt off.
The teen kept talking fast — promising fun, excitement, and things Jordan knew weren’t right. The more the voice talked, the more uneasy Jordan felt.
Then Jordan remembered something his mom always said: “If someone tries to pull you in quickly, step back slowly.”
So Jordan stepped back.
The teen’s smile faded. “Come on, don’t be boring.”
Jordan shook his head and walked away.
As he turned the corner, he felt a wave of relief. He didn’t need to know everything that was behind that window. He just needed to know this:
If a voice tries to pull you away from wisdom, it’s not a voice worth following.
Core Truth: Not every voice deserves your attention — wisdom helps you tell the difference.
Action Step
Pay attention to the voices around you today — online, at school, on your phone. Choose to listen only to the ones that lead you toward wisdom, not away from it.
Reflection Question
Is there a voice — a person, a message, an influence — that you need to step away from?
Scripture Echo
Proverbs 7:24–25 “Listen to me… do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths.”
Prayer
“God, help me recognize voices that pull me away from You. Give me the courage to walk away and the wisdom to follow what is right.”
